The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
- Park: Hollywood Studios
- FASTPASS? YES
Review
(June 2008) -
We walked up to Tower of Terror ride and got right in line after getting a Fastpass to another ride. The wait time was only 15 minutes but the park had just opened. The wait line twisted around into the lobby of this ‘haunted hotel’.
We were instructed to wait in front of some doors and then they opened and we entered a dimly lit room that looked like an old study. A TV came on and the guy from the twilight zone told us how we were about to experience something very scary. Some more doors opened on the opposite side and we entered what looked like a large boiler room with a series of elevators.
The lines split in two places so we picked the line straight ahead and wait about 5 more minutes to get up to the elevator.
We were lined up and then loaded into the elevator, which was enclosed in a big cage. We sate down and strapped ourselves in. The door closed and then we were taken up to a floor where the doors opened and we actually moved into the floor, riding through a hallway where there was some spooky looking stuff going on around us. We moved back into an elevator shaft and the bottom just fell out plunging us down at a high rate of speed!
A series of falls and then climbs back up made my stomach feel like it was going to come up through my mouth! I was up off of my seat a few times. When the ride hit the peak there was an opening on the building where you could look through outside and see how high up you actually were.
Summary
This is another ride that you probably want to make sure that you don’t eat anything on – unless you want to enjoy it a second time. The sensation of falling at a high rate of speed is scary and this ride does a good job of keeping you guessing what is going to happen next. Fastpass is recommended as there are not many rides at Hollywood Studios and the Tower of Terror lines will get longer during the day.
