Review
(June 2008) - Magic Kingdom is the main theme park located at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. When you think of Disney the Cinderella Castle comes to mind, and this is the place where all of the characters hang out!
We visited the Magic Kingdom on a Saturday and arrived about an hour after the park opened. When you walk up towards the park after riding a shuttle or parking your car, you have two choices to get to the gates to enter. You can either take a boat ferry or a monorail across the big lake. We chose the monorail and were on our way.
We walked up and got right into the park with our ticket card, and decided to walk around the entire park in a clockwise motion according to the map. Magic Kingdom is divided into seven distinct areas, and it is a good idea to plan how you want to spend your day.
We walked down Main Street USA, and then headed over through Adventure Land. The Jungle Cruise is the first ride we experienced at Disney World. We were a bit dissapointed to see that the Pirates of the Caribbean ride was shut down for maintenance.
The next area we visited was Frontierland, home to Splash Mountain and the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. We were able to do Fastpass for Splash Mountain and only ended up waiting 20 minutes to ride the Big Thunder Railroad. Both rides were excellent and among our favorites of the whole park.
Next we ventured over to the Liberty Square area and went on the Haunted Mansion ride. Fantasyland was next and we decided to ride on it's a small world and Peter Pan's flight. (The it's a small world ride will give you nightmares because the song sticks in your head). We didn't have a child with us this time so Fantasyland was skipped over for the most part.
Tommorrowland had alot to offer and we spent a fair amount of time riding all of the major rides in this section. Space Mountain was the highlight, and we were able to get a Fastpass so we did not have much of a wait at all. Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin was alot of fun, and was a nice surprise.
We were not able to go back into Mickey's Toontown fair because it was closed off for some reason at the time we were in that area of the park.
We spent the entire day at Magic Kingdom and were able to go back and ride our favorite rides another time. In between rides we took in a couple of shows and sat down to relax and get some drinks and food for lunch and dinner. We stayed until the fireworks display and it was definitely worth it.

Summary
If you can only visit one park while at Disney World this is the one to go to. For the classic Disney experience and variety of things to do and see it cannot be beat. The highlights of the park were Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain. It was very busy by mid afternoon and the lines got long on some of the rides. It was easy to get Fastpass for the major rides and it helped to make the waits almost non existant. Good food, good shows, and lots of entertainment. A very fun experience that we will never forget!
